First and foremost: I am flattered that real people out there want to know about my life/what I think about things. Such a cool freaking feeling. Also, I’m a little backed up on questions, so these are a bit old– But to those who have been asking me the more recent questions: Don’t worry! I haven’t forgotten about you, and I’m making my way to them sooooon! xoxo

Q: What is your opinion on the use of Adderall in college, and how prevalent is Adderall use at Stanford specifically?

540920389My opinion of nonprescribed use of academic performance-enhancing drugs: It’s cheating. Same way the use of physical performance-enhancing drugs are cheating. Same. Exact. Thing.

In regards to Stanford, I wouldn’t consider it that prevalent at all. In fact, I don’t know of anyone here who has used Adderall to enhance their academic performance. Now that doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. In fact, I’d venture to hypothesize that it probably does exist, and that those who do use it keep it on the very down low, since Stanford students tend to value academic integrity very highly and probably wouldn’t fux with someone cheating to screw up the curve.

Screen Shot 2015-06-28 at 8.42.46 PMALTERNATIVE A: “It’s not necessarily cheating, but it definitely gives them an advantage in an inarguably ‘bad’ way. It’s not like they’re just studying more and harder, they’re taking a drug. But at the same time, they’re still putting in the time to learn the material. It’s not like they’re stealing answers. They’re still studying and taking in the knowledge, and the Adderall is just giving them the power to do so.” – Madi Kist, Rising Sophomore

Q: You mentioned working out early, so what time do you go to sleep? / Q: What time would you go to sleep on weekdays and weekends during the school years?

A: My alarm was set for the morning pump at 6:40 AM every weekday, so I tried to be in bed around 1 AM every night. If I ever had to be up past 2, I slept in and did an afternoon pump. Thomas and Benji gave me sh*t for it, but a girl’s gotta sleep. On the weekends I usually ended up going to bed around the same time and waking up around 9:30/10:00 AM.

Q: How old were you when you got your first kiss?

A: Pshtt you mean how old was I when I gave my first kiss? I don’t know. How old was I at Deaner’s my sophomore year? Like, 15? 16?

Q: What are you planning on studying? What kinds of classes have you taken so far? (Sorry if this is already mentioned on your blog somewhere)

A: I haven’t talked about this anywhere on the blog yet, so you’re good! I’m ready to declare a Communication major any time now. I’m fascinated by a lot of things going on in that area, mostly surrounding how technology is changing the way people consume media. I’m also interested in marketing, PR, multimedia and broadcast journalism, virtual reality, and lots of other things that fit nicely into the Comm category. It really is the perfect fit for me.

IMG_6323I’ve only taken two Comm classes so far, COMM 1A, “Mass Media, Society and Democracy,” which was hell, and COMM 176, “Advanced Digital Media Production.” I somehow fenagled my way into that class, which is technically for journalism master students. I absolutely loved it. My technical skills improved more in those ten weeks than in the past four years of BHS-TV, and it completely opened up my mind to what journalism can be/mean.

Other than those two Comm classes, I’ve taken… actually, this is a good idea. I’ll do a class reviews post next. Stay tuned.

  1. I’m so confused in why Adderall is like cheating? If it helps you concentrate more, isn’t it like just an advanced version of what coffee, energy drinks, cigarettes give us?

  2. Heya great website! Does running a blog like this require a massive amount work?
I have very little understanding of programming but I had been hoping to start my own blog
soon. Anyhow, if you have any recommendations or techniques for new blog owners please
share. I understand this is off topic however I just needed to
    ask. Thanks!

So, whaddaya think?
